CEDAR VALLEY ROCKS & MINERALS SOCIETY



Cedar Valley Rocks and Minerals Society, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was organized for the purpose of studying the sciences of mineralogy, geology, and paleontology and the arts of lapidary and gemology. The club draws members from the greater Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area as well as from across Iowa, surrounding states, and a few distant states.

  • Viewing Fri. from 5:00-7:30 p.m.; Sat. starting at 7:30 a.m.; Sun. starting at 8:00 a.m.

    Auction Helpers - Members
    September 21-22, 2024



    • Fri. Setup starts at 8:30 a.m.
    • Wear your "Staff" t-shirt during the auction
    • Set up tables, unpack boxes, help arrange material into lots, put numbers on lots, help during viewing from 5:00-7:30
    • Lunch & pizza dinner provided to helpers
    • Sat. & Sun.: run auction sheets, spot for auctioneers, move lots to the front of the hall, tear down & clean up
    • Please help if you can

    Bus Trip to Calkins Nature Area, Iowa Falls and Grotto of the Redemption,West Bend
    Oct 5: 6:30am to ~6:00pm


    • Leave Cedar Rapids from Cedar Valley World Travel at 6:30am.
    • Arrive Calkins Nature Area ~9:00am
    • Guided Tour/Program and Self-Guided Viewing
    • Continue to Grotto of the Redemption ~11am
    • Bring your own lunch to eat on the bus.
    • Leave Grotto ~3:00pm
    • Arrive Cedar Rapids ~6:00pm
    • Bus free for members. After Sept 1, nonmembers may join the trip for $25/person.
    • Zoo admission payable by participants: Adults $18.95; 65+ & Military $17.95; Kids 3-11 $12.95, Military Kids $11.95.
